Okay, Heres what we are dealing with here.

A Merlin Legend R7 in PBX/Hybrid mode, and Intuity Audix Release 4.1.

How could I make it so that ALL of the phones in the system would ring about 3 times, and then go over to the Auto Attendent in the Audix.

I would like the incoming calls to ring on the SA buttons if possible, instead of taking up button space with line or cover buttons.

Thanks a TON!

Austin

PS: I cannot find the Delay answer in the Audix anywhere, where exactly is this, and what are the commands?

Thanks

I beleive that you would set up a group that would answer the lines set the overflow for about11 seconds (3.5/ring) and overflor that to a group with all the extensions you want to ring.

I know someone will correct me if I am incorrect as I am new to this group thing.

Nope,

That did not work, but thanks for at least replying!!

Anyone else have the answers to my complicated question?

Thanks,
Austin

Not sure why you want to do this, but here goes:
Create a phantom extension, say 1000, assign 1000 as the owner of all lines, add a cover button to all phones for ext 1000. Add 1000 to cover to voicemail group. In Audix tell it to play the AA when calls are recieved from ext 1000.

You could also do the same thing using the console (since by default the console 'owns' all lines) instead of a phantom extension.

Thanks Franke!

The reason I want to do this is because this is in a resident, and having the AA answer right away in a residence is just not a good thing. I will try what you tell me and post the results, thanks for the advice!!

If lines are not in a pool try this
1) assign the lines to the phone with immediate ring
2) assign the lines to group 771 also and have a time based overflow, overflow them to Vm group 770 with a setting of about 11 seconds as state din a earlier post

If the lines are in a pool assign a pool button on all of the phones set to immediate and also put the pool in 771 as stated above

Thanks for all of the replys!

I decided to go with the method of slapping a coverage button on each of the phones to cover for the operator. I have heard about a ring answer delay on Audix, does anyone know how this works??

Thanks,

Austin

Got a customer that wants to exchange their Merlin II console for an MLX 28 btn display, with DSS field. If I moved the five working ATL sets out of that circuit pack, downed the system, swapped the 408 ATL ckt pack for a 408 MLX card, plugged in an MLX 28 display, and brought the system up, did a board renumber, would it work properly or is there a better way to initiate the conversion? Thank you very much.

Alex

Do they have a Merlin Legend, or a Merlin II? If they do in fact have a Merlin Legend, Shutting off the system, swapping the packs, Doing a Board Renumber and firing it up should be just fine. Although if this is their only MLX card, and their 1st MLX card, make sure to put an MLX 20L somewhere on there. The 20L is normally used as an attendent console.

WOAH!! MLX stations also have adjuncts to account for. If you swap that ATL card for an MLX card, you're really swapping a 16 "station" card for an 8 station card. The first station is OK, but the programming for the 2nd ATL station ends up on the 1st adjunct station. The 3rd ATL station ends up on the 2nd MLX station, and the 4th ATL station goes to the 2nd adjunct station, and so on. Even worse, worse, EVERY station backs up 8 ports, it's a real mess.

I went through just this senario in a hotel configuration, when Avaya ended maintaince coverage on the ATL console, which was connected to the 1st logical ID, and the salesman sold them a new MLX and DSS. With only an ATL card in slot 1, a bunch of Tip/Ring cards for the rooms, and then an MLX card to run the other MLX phone, I could have been OK. But the problem was room phones dialing "0" for the front desk, you can't change that destination from anything other than the 1st logical ID. I spend a week programming another processor back at the office in surrogate mode until I was confident that it was ready to take out and swap things around. What a nightmare!!

TTT IS SO VERY CORRECT - I spent several hours this weeked getting one ready that was changing several ATL packs for MLX.

Things that change are buttons, associations (as in what extension is in what calling and/or cover group and allow & dis allow group and who they cover for and/or who covers for them.

Things get totally scrambled when you do this.

The way to do it, and again, it is not easy, is to do a PRINT ALL of the system as it is now, DO a BACK UP to your computer & flash card, build a surrogate with the back up, swap the cards with the BOARD command, then do a PRINT ALL of the surrogate and then see what all changes.

Look closeley at BUTTONS on ADJUNCTS - How ports get their extension number changed, where things land in LISTS and GROUPS.

Be prepared to spend several hours doing this....

DO NOT DO IT TO THE SYSTEM WHILE IT IS IN USE, you will be very sorry....

OH DEAR, I GOT IT ALL BACKWARDS. I was thinking of swapping an MLX card for an ATL card, like I had to do for a Transtalk 9030 to work. I am so very sorry about that misinformation. Although, yes, TTT and MM are right, it is a pain in the A**. Actually, System Renumbering of any type is a pain.

Thank you all, aussie88, TouchToneTommy, and Merlinman for all your valuable input and caveats. Guess I'll have to rethink this project carefully. Appeciate the advice. I've learnt alot from you all, and STILL learning.
