Hi guys,

Would anyone of you like to advise if there is a wireless broadband router that and be connected to ADSL modem or ADSL line directly and be connected to the Internet?

I am currently looking for a wireless broadband router that can function 'on its own' without having connected to any NT/2K Server or PC.

The ideal set up is that the router only needs to be connected to the ADSL modem or the ADSL line directly, and all users connected to the router or the switch can simply surf the broadband.

Does anyone know of any hardware or configuration around?

Please advise. Thank you.

Is SMC2804WBR capable of doing that?

The hardwares that I have thought of are:
1.SMC Wireless BB Router (SMC 2804WBR)
2.Wireless PCI Adaptor (SMC2802W)- for PC
3.Wireless USB Adaptor USB 2.0 (SMC 2862W)- for PC& notebooks

Regards,

There are plenty of wireless combined ADSL modems and routers.
SMC - SMC7804WBRA
Linksys
D-Link
Netgear
Belkin

All these manufacturers produce the kind of kit you are after. I have a Belkin setup as you describe in my house.

If sunflower oil comes from sunflowers, and vegetable oil comes from vegetables, where does baby oil come from?

Hi Mark,

Thank you for your prompt reply. That is to say, if were to use the SMC - SMC7804WBRA, it would be 'auto' connected to the Internet? Meaning to say, I don't need a Server or a PC to connect it to Internet?

Pls advise.

thk you.

Rgds,

yes it would... might need to set it up to ure connection first though.....

I set mine up using a laptop with a wireless Lan card. The Belkin wireless router picked it up straight away and I was able to set the ADSL connection without having to physically attaching the laptop to the router.

You would be auto connected to the Internet once your ISP settings are configured. No server involved.
