Hello

I have a small problem, where by I have SQL Server 6.5 installed on my NT4 Server and it will not allow me to install SQL Server 7. I get the following error message during the software installation process.

"setup failed to configure the server. refer to the server error logs and cnfgsvr.out for more information."

I have already down the same installation on 2 other NT4 Servers which worked with no problems and the databases have now been upgraded also. But I have this one server which will not allow me to even install the software.

I have come across 1 difference between each of the machines, this is that server 1 and server 2 uses the following to connect to the SQL Server:

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]

It is these servers that work.

The server (server 3) that does not work is trying use:

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][Named Pipes]

DO I HAVE SOME ENTRY'S MISSING MY REGISTRY?
DO I NEED TO RE-INSTALL THE ODBC DRIVERS ETC...?

ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED...

Hi There

What does the cnfgsvr.out file say ... or the cnfgsvr.err if there is one. It should be in a folder c:\mssql7\install
Hope This Helps
Bernadette
