Hello all,

I'm going to be installing a BCM50 with 20 IP phones. No digital phones.

The customer wants the extensions to start with 201.

My question is this:

Do I renumber the BCM subtracting the number of default digital DNs (80) so the first IP DN is 201 or do I just start with 201 as the first digital DN and go through the process of changing DNs.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Bostech

I would place the phones, turn off auto assign DNs. then the phones will be sitting at the location asking what DN to be, key in the DN on the pad of the IP phone.

Bombone,

I thought of that, but I didn't think it would let you use a DN that was assigned to a digital port.

I just tried it on my bench system and it worked.

Thanks.

Do a system startup and start the extensions off with 250.. Once that is done, sort the extensions (Inactive or All DNs) by set type. Renumber the DNs where the phone type is i2004, i2050, etc. and then plug in your IP phones. As posted previously, turn off Auto Assign DNs so you can choose which IP phone gets what extension. Remember, you can only assign valid DNs and if the system startup was default (ext 221 on port 401), then x201 isn't a valid extension...
