Question from newbie:

Hi,

I have just started working for a company with Windows 2000 Server (PDC) with ISA installed for allowing web access to network clients. I understand that ISA on a PDC is not recommened, but it was up and running long ago

Shortly, we are having a ADSL line installed and I will need to change the current settings on the external nic card to the settings required for the router.

Do I only need to change the IP, Gateway and DNS settings on the NIC, or do I need to make config changes to the system elsewhere.

The extrenal nic currently accesses but I will not be able to use the current settings on the new connection.

Cheers

I guess this kind of depends on how the ISA box is confiured. Yuo will definately need to make the changes to the adaptor for the new address, default gateway and DNS servers.

In ISA you might need to change the outgoing and incomming listeners if you have anything special configured (web and server publishing) If you are just doing "Use the same listener configuration on IP addresses" I don't think you will need to modify.

Hope this helps a bit.

Chris

Thank you Chris,

For what I can see and understand using ISA Manager, there isn't anything special listed in any of the fields etc, the only place ip address's seem to be listed is in local clients list.

I have checked outgoing listeners, and it is set to use the same config for all internal ip address's.

Incoming is set to configure listeners individually per ip address, although none listed in box below

The box is not being used for anything other than a proxy server for web access.

So, I will just change the nic's settings and take it from there,

Thanks again

FWIW have a look at this; go to:

and from the top (horizontal) menu hover ocer "Smallbusiness Server 2000" then move down to : "Network Configuration" then select the option which best suits your configuration of router/firewall and static/dynamic IP.

Follow the instructions carefully and I thing that this will work for you, it did for me (several times).
