Config NIC on Dell R515 w/SuSE 11.2?

I must be brain dead here. Usually configuring a static IP on a NIC is real simple. BUt of the 4 ports on this server (2 integrated, 2 Intel Pro PCIe) I use the Yast2 Network COnfig, define my parameters but I CANNOT ping out of this machine. Yes the cable is good because I have double lights on the port and the switch.
Any ideas as to what must be special on this Dell box??? Thanks -

You've tried all 4 ports? Does tcpdump -i <interface> show traffic on any of the interfaces? What status does ethtool report for them?
