Hi All,

Though I have been doing this for a couple years, I have not had any requests for what is available in regards to conferencing.

We have a Dean who wants to conduct a conference call (meeting) with faculty and staff at their homes, summer residences, and offices on other campuses. We are running a Definity G3 R8 if you need that info.

I tried a search and saw that she could call each party if I set up a conference button on her phone. Is this the only way? Can she have them call in to her for a conference? Are there services out there, say through our local phone company, that would give the option of calling to her?

ANy help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Frank

Avaya also offers a "Meet-Me" conference feature, but I believe that this is only available to v11 and above.

Your local telco should be able to offer you conference features, as well. AT&T conferencing is detailed at as an example.

Thanks. I think that service you mentioned (AT&T) or Verizon's service appear to be more what she would need. Unfortunately we are upgrading the whole system later in the summer after the new budgets are finalized so a little late for her needs right now. But in the future the meet me feature of R11 sounds like it could get some use here. More features I can't wait to use when we get it.

Thanks again!

Frank

Both Meet Me and the Conferencing on the Avayas will only allow you 6 parties! We have a stand alone Conferenceing server. It is a Cisco product called Meeting place. Very expandable and works fine.

Just a thought

1a2 to ip I seen it all

What you can also look into is adding an Avaya IPoffice 403 behind the Definity. The entire switch can be purchased for 5k or so. If you pipe in one T1 from the definity you will be able to conference 24 parties in the IP office. If you need more you can add a second t1.

The functionality includes propting and pin codes etc. If you compare the cost of one IP office 403 vs 1 year of using any outside conferencing company you won't be disappointed.
