Scenario: Conference is established between associate, outside caller & Boss. A secondary incoming call comes in and the associate places the conference call on-hold to answer. The established conference call users then hear music-on-hold.
Obviously, the associate is missing a step. She claims she's using the same procedure that she used on her legacy system.

Systems work differently, they need adapt to how this one works, it won't go the other way :)

Depending on the version, use a different ICR with a different MOH (AKA None)for your conference calls, this could resolve the problem. Outbound you would be screwed. I have used this on VM Pro controlled conference rooms with out a problem, but it is a matter of how you use the function.

Dermis and feline can be divorced by manifold methods.*
*(Disclaimer for all advise given)--'Version Dependent'

Simple

Do Not put the conference on hold!
Why on earth would the associate want to do this anyway. Clearly their presence is required on the conference or they would not be there in the first place, Does the boss really want to wait whilst this person deals with another call?

If they really do have to answer a call then DROP out of the conference first & rejoin when finished, it is hardly rocket surgury!

Thankyou techs/eng's,I appreciate everyones input. I am also going to suggest back-feeding the M.O.H. source to the associates desk and run it into a toggle switch so she can "switch-off" the source.

Brilliant idea, instead of teaching the user to operate the system correctly implement a complex & error prone system that will have an affect on all other calls in the system.

Priceless. this woudl be deserving of a spot on

IPGURU: Not my Client nor my usual M.O. - The I.T. Tech who reported this issue to me said the client is so angry they are going to change-out the switch! I'm just trying to prevent that. I am not a VoIP Tech after 45-yrs in Key & Legacy World - besides, today's my B-Day! not workin!

if this is how they react to being given instruction on how to corectly use the system you will probably find it in your best interest to let them. [banghead]

Just turn auto hold off on all the phones.
System - Telephony
When they press their other call appearance button they will drop the conference call.

This statement right there drives me up the wall. It worked this way on my previous system so make it work this way on this system...

My S10 had a governor not allowing me to go past 95mph I want my new corvette to work the same way... It equally makes no sense and should not be an argument that everyone falls back too.
/endrant

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

Good call
I was not aware of this, probably because no-one in there right mind the UK wants multiple call apearance keys so nearly all of our systems hav only 2 with reserve lasct CA enabled (although that would not help i this instance).
