We have a customer running a 412 with 3.1.65. The problem they are having is this (and I do not think anything is "broke" but just they way it works and maybe someone knows a work around)-

A secretary is setting up a conference call so she transfers 3 people to a bridge (shortcode with conference meet me) then before she put the "boss" into the call she calls into the bridge to make sure everyone is there and ready BUT when she hangs up to then go transfer the boss the conference is disconnected (all caller were dropped when she hung up).

I'm pretty sure this is supposed to happen because she is the one who started the conference call by transferring people into it.

So my question is does anyone know a way she can call into the bridge then leave without disconnecting the callers?

One way is the user can park the call. Enter "0" as the Park Timeout to disable that so the conference doesnt ring back on her phone.

She should be able to leave as long as there are more than 2 other parties in the conference. Have tested this before.

Give the poor lady the CallStatus software so see can check there if the conference is pending.

Teach the bos how to setup his own confrence calls when needed

You could try the drop feature. I believe the design of this feature is for a conference call or similar application. None the less, she should be able to hang up without disconnecting anyone. It sounds like she is making a personal conference rather than a meet me conference. Double check your short code, and/or check call status to be sure they are truely in a meet me conference.

She has call status and can use that to see but there are lots of calls going on at one time and it is very hard for them to remember the Caller ID for each call they have transfered to the bridge. There are 4 secrataries doing this as well as all of the other calls going on at the time.

There is no way the "boss" you even think about setting up the calls himself plus 95% of the time they are not in the office and calling in to have the secratary set up the call for them.

We ended up setting them up with the Park buttons so that after she calls in to make sure everyone is there and ready she then Parks the call insted of hanging up. I think that will get the by (I hope).

I checked the shortcodes and they are meet me. In call status how can you tell that they are in a meet me as opposed to a personal conference? We have told them to never use the conference button (they have a problem of joining the people on hold into a conference if they use that button) so I do not think they are doing personal conferences (you never know though).

You should be able to tell the difference between user conference and meet me conference by the conference bridge number. If the meet me conference is 701, i believe you should see 701 for the calling party field of call status. I could be wrong but it should show the destination of the calling party, even if its not an outside call.

That's funny because 701-725 are the actual bridge numbers I used.

Sometimes you see 701, sometimes you see Conf 1 in status? Sometimes both (one for one party and something else for another).

It would be nice if you could have status only show certian phones for certian users.

That Call Status is helpful for the users in some situations but I hear it all the time about that fact that un-important guy #1 can see who Mr. Important boss is on the phone with.
