I am using voicemail pro to do a conference. Basically when people call in they enter a pin, and are automatically added to the conference.

THe problem is, when there are only 2 people left and one hangs up, it ends the conference. Is there anyway around this outside of buying the $3000 conference center license?

thanks

Not even a Conference Centre license can help you with this.
This is the way it works, if the conference is left with only one party then the IP Office release the conference.

really? that is junk. If you have a conference setup it should stay up as long as one person is still in.

Whoaaa!

Thats gotta be a bug! I just tested that and it did hang up on me as the second person hung up. Thats a strange one there. Doesnt seem like there is a real reason for this.

do you have the conference center license?

Surely that is logical, if your in a conference with 1 other and they hang up you are no longer in a converance, unless you talk to yourself???

IPAlot,it seems some people do, specially if they are to long staring at their screen. Special for them i'm sure Avaya will provide the "one person conference suite" with support of a webcam and text to speech capabilities.

thanks for the smart ass replies.

What happens is we dial in to test everything is working ok, and when we hang up the conference is ended.

So then you must be the conference room waiter. Regardless you will have to deal with the situation at hand.

Sorry Shanebuss, but the thought of a 1 person conf is a tad amusing, do other systems hold a conf up with only 1 party???

I just think if you pay $3000 for a conf center license, and schedule a conf from 1pm-2pm, the conf should stay up from 1pm - 2pm, regardless of the number of people

we did have issues with this before when we were testing, or one time when someones cell phone dropped and then the conference was ended.

its not that big of a deal

thanks

The issue isn't one person conferences, it that when the second person to join leaves for some reason, say to move to another desk, the switch assumes that the whole conference has already ended before its even begun.

Okay its not fatal, the conference resource that have been booked are still booked and you can log in again but its still a real pain.

if a person leave to an other desk, he can still be in de conference, just keep him on hold. Login to an other extension, with your pin, you will automatically logoff your other station and are fine to join the conference

yes but thats expecting the user to know itimately the behaviour of the phone system, ie. its bad design.

A user should be able to just leave the conference and walk to another phone without having to know that if they were the second caller to join the conference then their leaving it has consequences.

From the start, a caller who dials in first to the conference has to be the only person in the conference...so why can't someone who is last in the conference be left there! He may be waiting for more people to come...not really a silly request.
