You can use the page PBX - Conference to manage conferences (conference bridges created under PBX - PBX Configuration - Conferences). Click on the link in the Participants column to show the Conference page. From this page, you can view the list of participants, invite new parties, mute participants or disconnect participants.
I don't think you could remove a party from an ad-hoc conference.
Shared call appearances are supposed to show status of trunks. If you have two external calls (one incoming and one outgoing - or both outgoing), you should see only two shared call appearance keys active (it shouldn't matter if the calls are connected to the same conference or not). If you see something unexpected, you should report it to E-MetroTel support.
Never tried it on a UCX but try F#3. That's conference split on a Norstar. If that code is supported on the UCX, it might get you what you're looking for.
On UCx, F#3 can be invoked only while you're adding another party - it hangs up the call to the new party and returns to the conference.
On Norstar, F#3 splits a 3 party conference. UCx uses a multi-party conference - splitting a conference with many parties couldn't work. But splitting a conference if the number of parties is lower or equal to the number of available extension buttons on the phone would be an interesting feature.
