I have the above card in my hp pavilion computer (upgraded to Win2K and downloaded new drivers). I recently tried to connect a Gravis gamepad to the game port. When I try to add this game controller (or any other) I get a message that says:
"Missing Gameport or Gameport Drivers!"
" Your Gameport or Gameport drivers are not properly configured. Please consult the Device Manager"

Device manager says the combo card 'device is working properly'.

The modem and sound card seem to work fine.

Does anyone have any ideas?

You have to have a device called "Gameport Joystick" listed in Device Manager with your sound card. Go to Add New Hardware and add the Gameport Joystick and install the
drivers. Did you get drivers with the gamepad?

Hi Jim,

I have the "Conexant Riptide PCI Input Controller (WDM)" listed under Sound, Video & Game Contollers in Device Manager.

I downloaded (and installed) the Gamepad drivers for Win2K from the gravis website.

When I go to "Gaming Options" in Control Panel and try to add the GamePad, I get the popup box with the text that I included in my original message.

This same error comes up no matter which game controller I try to install, even a custom one.

I'm thinking there's something wrong with my combo card, as I'm on the 2nd one for this machine. On the original card, the modem died.

Just thought maybe someone else had run across this problem and might have a solution.

Thanks for your help. If you've got any other thoughts, I'd appreciate hearing them.

I may be wrong, but I think you need to install the native gameport drivers off the Win2000 CD. Go to Add New Hardware and install the Gameport Joystick drivers off the CD. I'm not familiar with 2000, but In Win98 that's what you have to do.
