I have the correct driver but I cannot install it on port 3 I can only install it on port 1 & 2. The generic driver installation comes up when I start my computer and even if I cancell it it still installs but I need to install the conexant drivers on my modem but the generic which is already on my modem wont allow me to because it is on port 3. I need help to get rid of generic and put my conexant software and drivers on port 3 where my modem is. HELP THIS IS URGENT!
thx 4 ur time i would really appreciate help

I'm not quite sure why you can't direct the installation to your Conexant CD, and not let it just install whatever it fancies! What does it say if you try to direct it to the CD?

Failing that, after installing the generic driver, goto Device Manager and delete it, including COM3. Now try installing a modem manually, and direct it to the CD for the relevant driver...

I had the same problem with Windows ME. Did you figure out how to install it on COM3? If so, please send me the fix.

I have always had this problem. To solve it, you have to let the system find the :pCI Comm port.
After install the modem, go to control panel, add new hardware. Windows will find it, search the CDROM that came with the modem, it will add the PCI Comm port, and them find and install the modem.
Works for me, hope it works for you.
