In CR v8.5, how can i conditionally format the headings on my columns in multi column mode so that if a column is empty, no heading appears?
Thanx in advance.

Right click the header, Format, and conditionally suppress the header on: distinctcount(fieldname) = 0

Insert a count summary on the field in question, or a count grand total if there is not summary. Then right click the label in question and select format text. To the right of the Suppress checkbox is a button labeled X-2. Click it and enter the following formula:

Count({fieldname},{GroupbyName})=0

This should suppress the field name when every value for the field is null. Software Training and Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

gatwork,

This will not be easy since columns have no markers (like groups do) and can't always be linked to a group. It may not be possible at all.

However, if you have a page break for each group you may be able to count the records for the group, subtract the number of records in the group before each page starts, and use that to determine how many columns this page will use. It will only work if you have a group page break, and also if knowing the number of records to be printed on the page is enough to determine the number of columns that will be used on that page.
