Conditional Forwarder not resolving correctly

I created a conditional forwarder last week in DOMAINA to point to the nameserver in DOMAINB, once created I could ping DOMAINB from the nameserver in DOMAINA fine and it resolved the IP correctly to it's internal address of 10.0.0.6 (VPN is in Place and I want ot create a Forest Level Trust). I did the same in DOMAINB and DOMAINA resolved correctly as well. This week when I try to ping DOMAINB from DOMAINA first result was "host not found" and after scavenging stale records and updating server records DOMAINB now resolves to the EXTERNAL ip address. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Also, NSLOOKUP from the nameserver in DOMAINA on itself returns the ip address of the machine but no name.
