I have a main report which has a subreport that I only want to print when the electoral type has a '/' in it. I have tried to format it with

'instr(Election.ElectionType '/') > 0'.

This does not seem to work whereever I put it. I have tried formatting all the subreport sections at the same time and formatting the subreport itself but nothing seems to work.

Does anyone have any ideas?

It sounds as if this condition is evident in the main report.

If this conditional field was generated in the main report, you'd conditionally suppress the section with the subreport in it with

instr(Election.ElectionType '/') = 0

If it's generated in the subreport, you could apply this same formula logic at the subreport section level.
