Excel 2003.

I have created a form for the user to fill in certain cells.

All the cells are locked except for what the user will fill in.

Is there a way to conditionally format the cell to shade for the cells the user must fill in?

Trying to give a more professional look to the form without having to manually shade the cells.

Thanks,
Ray

Hi,

"Trying to give a more professional look to the form without having to manually shade the cells."

Not without VBA code.

Don't you have the sheet protected so that only UNLOCKED cells can be selected? TAB & format. If you want to make that even quicker, record a macro when you format ONE cell and use a keyboard shortcut key. Post back if you need help.

Skip,

I was just checking to see if it could be done in Conditional Formatting.

I can handle the shading manually.

Thanks for the quick response.

Why not use an Excel Style - say called InputData - that has protection turned off and has shading turned on. Just format the data entry cells with that style.

"...that has protection turned off and has shading turned on."

A format or style cannot have protection turned off. It can have the cell UNLOCKED, but in order to take advantage of LOCKING, the Sheet must be Protected.
