Conditional Field Options

Hi,

IS it possible in FMP6 to create field that change parameters based on content? Ex: If Dollars owed exceeds $50 change font to bold and text color to red.

Also, does FMP6 Developer come with FMP 6 Pro, and can allpications be written and distributed without needing to create a runtime. I ask because the runtime package is very limited(compared to Access & Alpha5) that it may only be used for creating demos.

Don't know in 6 yet.

I use (FM 5) a Case calculation together with a global field to change the background color.

With two fields I can 'change' font, size and color.

I just tried what you suggested in the trail version of FMP6, and it works great. Is there a way I can change the actual text format of the field I run the Case calculation
on? Example; actual dollars > 50, actual dollars= Bold, RED, font size=18.

Or something like that?

Thank you again for your suggestion. Being very new to filemaker, and only using the trial version, you showed me some stuff I didn't even know was possible! Thank you!

Hi Greg,

don't know yet about FM6, most of my customers are still on FM 3,4 and 5.

Since FM 2 I use the same trick, but with a reference to an other (or more) field.
Those fields are formatted as you like (bold, red, green etc).
Those fields are transparent. (toolbox on the left, in layout mode) and put over each other.

Lets say you have a result field bold red and one bold green, the true result from the Case statement will take the appropriate field.

It's maybe not the most elegant solution, but it works for me since version 2.1.
Never looked to another way round.
