I installed ServicePack1 for Windows 2000 Professional. My system immediately displayed the following symptoms....
1. Choosing Properties for any folder has no effect--it just doesn't work anymore.(It seems to still work for files)
2. When booting up and logging in, it takes FOREVER for the desktop icons to appear. (I checked ALL items starting up, Startup folder, Registry, & services)

Soooo, I said OK, and uninstalled ServicePack1. Bingo! Everything is back to running normally.
Anyone have any thoughts about this?
THANKS-

I havent seen that, but I have mixed feelings about SP1 for Win2k, the first time I used it, it upgraded no problem, when I formated my system a couple weeks later, and reinstalled Win2k, and I tried to run SP1, it messed up my system files, and I lost Win2k due to it corupting my system files.

so I am not going to touch SP1, I'm going to wait for further Service Packs, to avoid that same risk.

(FYI , after reinstalling windows and trying to run SP1 for a second and third time, the same coruption resulted, the third time being a fresh redownload of SP1 to make sure the package itself wasnt corupted)
