i have a pentium celeron 400. compusa brand. computer boots but nothing shows up on the monitor. the monitor is fine. the cables are fine. it has onboard video that i cannot turn off. it makes all the normal booting sounds, but does not sound like it is going much further than the hard drive test. it has 1 ram chip in it, 1 hard drive, one floppy drive, and one cd rom. nothing else. am i forgetting something to get it to turn on and preform a normal boot?

if you have win95 try f5 at boot and if you have win98 try f8 at boot and select the 3rd option

You might run through faq602-2731 for a reminder of things to try. Hope this helps!!

Quick! Run out and find me a four year-old child: I can't make heads nor tails out of this!"

On your monitor, does the light turn a different color once it detects a signal from the computer? Mine turns from Amber to Green. If that is not happening then the monitor is not getting a signal from the video subsystem that its there. Next has this unit been woorking before? Howlong has it been working and has there been any upgrades on it since you have had it? Also, what is the make of the motherboard? I haven't run across too many MB that you can't disable onboard devices. And since its a COMPUSA brand, I would think they would knpw better to put such a board in PC, but stranger things have happened.

Good Luck!
