Running Windows XP Pro on a Compaq EVO N 1020V Laptop. I cntl-alt-delete and choose "Lock Computer". It appears to be locked. I come back in a few hours and it is unlocked. No one has access to the PC or a password of any kind.

Any ideas as to what could cause the PC to un-lock itself?

Thanks!

Are you logging on with a password at system start?

If so, my guess is that the computer is rebooting. If this is a tecent problem and you have access to the internet you should check for MSBLAST and the RPC vulernability.

The only thing I can think of is that you could use Scheduled Tasks to start a session with RUNAS and alternate credentials.

That, and not blocking remote access to the shutdown command from members of the Admin group.

bcaster,

I am not quite sure I understand what you are saying. I just need to find out why the PC is unlocking itself.

Thanks for your help
