Not sure why this is happening. But my computer will suddenly just go off completely with no warning. It is not a fan problem since I checked all of the fans in the computer and they all work. Also, no new hardware has been recently installed. I was thinking maybe there could be something up with the CPU, or over heating issues, but the computer has run just fine through the summer with no problems at all. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

When you say that the PC suddenly shuts down, is it during intensive work, or is the PC idle ?

If during intensive work, you might want to redo the connection between the heatsink and the CPU - getting a temperature reading when the PC reboots is misleading since the CPU cools down quite fast. In this case, I would take off the HSF, wipe the surface of the HSF and of the CPU clean, apply a fresh dab of Arctic Silver (ensuring the best possible coverage with the least amount of material) and reapply the HSF properly.

Pascal.

What is said in the Event Logs about the shutdown?
Also, is any warning provided on the display prior to shutdown?

Finally, in System Properties, Advanced, Startup and Recovery -- Settings, uncheck to automaticly restart in the event of an error.
