computer restarts itself before login phase, runs only in safe mode

Hi,
I have, of course, win 2k pro, and as soon as the blue logon screen appears, before the actual login, the computer restarts itself.
It does, however, starts OK in safe mode.

Go into the Control Panel, System, Startup and Recovery Options and make sure the Automatically Restart box is unchecked under the System Failures options. Check the Event Viewer for errors and this will likely give you a clue as to the offending driver, service, etc.

i had the same problem and through swapping over parts i worked it out that my ram was faulty
