We are running W2K server with W2K workstations, using AD for both the users and computers. We only recently wrote a policy for the computers as previously we had a product called winsuite that we wanted to move away from. For this reason we wrote a policy that hides the computer name and limits access to control panel and other functions.
The problem we now have is that some of the computers are showing computer names such as COMPUTER10.104.63.1 when it should be just COMPUTER, the IP address shown isn't even current, it is from our old IP range from our old service provider. The problem this causes is that when you log on to the domain as administrator and try and leave the domain you get the error message "Access is denied."
I figure this must be something to do with one of the new policies. Has anyone come accross anything like this before???
Any help greatfully received!
