My workstation hangs if I install a USB software key. Also, If I disconnect my USB zip drive then I have to reboot if I reconnect it, in other words its not hot swappable. Any insight?

Thanks

Well, first off, NT doesn't support USB. There are some very specific drivers floating out there that are supposed to support a USB keyboard or mouse under NT, but not many of them. As for unplugging your USB Zip drive, how are you getting a USB zip drive to even work with NT? Iomega doesn't support it for NT.

You may want to look into Windows 2000 as your operating system if you want the niceties of NT with support for USB.

Good luck,
Hobbes

Hobbes,

I got the NT drivers from Iomega. The zip drive works well if I allow the computer to boot up with it already plugged into the USB port. I also have a barcode scanner wand that works as well. If those devices worked under NT then why would the USB key not work? Maybe if you explain to me what happens when a USB device is inserted, then maybe I might just understand this problem.

Thanks
