not sure if hardware/software problem (have had recent USB port problems), but when I try and render movies, starts fine then programme freezes (coloured whirligig goes into action) and nothing.... i have to use force quit to get out of aftereffects, and obviously can't render longish pieces. Any suggestions please?

computer freezing during rendering 1

This could have to do with the EFFECTS that you have on your computer.
If there are arcane effects that you're employing - it's possible that the render engine is locking up.
Additionally, there could be a font error that is popping up when you try to render.
It should have anything to do with your USB Port, as long as you're rendering the movie locally (to your internal hard drive).
It could be a RAM issue (which I've recently experienced). Make sure you check all of your RAM.
