I've had no problems with my PC before. Then, all of a sudden, the computer doesn't turn on. When I try to power up my PC, the power light comes on, but I hear no beeps and the monitor remains black. The CD-ROM drive, hard drive, and floppy drive are all off. All the LED lights for each never comes on, not even flash. The fans are running and the motherboard light is on. I've check all the wiring and cables and all seem to be tightly secured. Is this a power supply failure?

Here are my computer specs:

It does sound like a PSU failure.

Try disconnecting all USB peripherals except keyboard/mouse and try again?

First remove the power cable from the rear of the PSU. Remove ALL power connectors, including mainboard. Half-second bursts of canned air to clean all connectors. Work I/O switch and 120-240 slide back and forth. Re-connect and try again.

New PSUs are cheap, and it's always good to have a spare. Testers are cheap too, but I prefer a multimeter.

Best of luck.

It could be a failed power supply, but it could just as easily be a bad motherboard, CPU or video card.

It's possible that your system is booting up since you're not hearing any beeps, but there's no signal to your monitor (bad video card). It's also possible that your CPU is fried/defective and it's stalling the motherboard. You just don't know until you start swapping in components. If you are the type that doesn't have access to spare parts, then I suggest you start at the cheapest and easiest to replace, which is the PSU (power supply unit). Then I would go motherboard, CPU, video card. Remember that you can always resell on eBay, so it's not a total loss if it doesn't fix the problem...
