When I move the mouse or hit a key on the keyboard to wakeup from standby the monitor stays black. I can hear the harddrive waking up but the monitor just stays on standby. I have installed all the updated drivers and patches for the videocard and still it does not fix it.

The computer specs are:
AMD Athlon 600
64 MB RAM
Windows 98 SE
Matrox G400 video card

Hello cawking,

Use msconfig and uncheck the taskmon in startup page. See if it corrects the problem. (This issue is usually attributed to 3 possible cause power management apm, mouse ps/2 and taskmon. Only the latter is software related. So try it first.)

hi,I have the SAME cawking's problem.
I try to uncheck the taskmon in startup page, but IT DOESN'T WORK!

what i have to do now?

thanks a lot.

Hello magistervb,

Very uncertain things might involve here. Look into usb device line with links from there:

If you do not have usb device, you have to look into power management/bios line.

Otherwise, general approach I would take sometime is to tolerate it and let other main trouble causes take their time to surface and deal with them. One day, you might find the problem gone! The non-awakening may be just a by-product of them.

I CORRECT THE PROBLEM!

reading about "USB", I try to switch off from the USB port my new web-cam....and IT WORKS!

thanks. hallo.

PS: can I re-checked now the taskmon in startup page?
