Howdy;

I am looking at installing Computer Associates eTrust Anti-virus version 7.0 on a Windows 2003 server running, among other things, Exchange 2003 and Veritas Backup Exec 9.0.

When installing any anti-virus solution, I realize there are services and directories that you need to exclude from both the real-time monitoring as well as the scheduled scans. The exchange services and backup services are likely candidates for exclusion...

Frustratingly enough, CA's documentation and web site does not include such useful information. I have been on hold for hours at a time, hence my visit here.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to determine which services/directories to exclude? I'd love to hear from those who have Symantec or other AV packages on 2K server if there is nothing on eTrust on W2K3.

Thanks much.

You should be pretty safe if you just exclude the whole exchsrvr folder, and the M: drive generated by Exchange.

Matt J.

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.

Matt;

Thanks for the information. Forgive my lag time for feedback, but I have been Away.

Cheers!

This is pretty typical of the kind of "help" you will get from Computer Associates.
