Computed fields using ODBC to an Access query

When I use ODBC to access an Access query, any computed fields from the query are only showing the first character in Crystal.

e.g. a query field "Fullname:[Forename] & " " & [Surname]" only shows "A" on the report.

This works OK if I connect direct to the DB rather than using ODBC (but I'd rather use ODBC if possible).

Any suggestions/thoughts?

Access 97, Crystal 4.6, Jet ODBC 4.00.5303.01
