All,

Could you please tell me if it makes any difference to the performance,if i run stats on data table only and NOT on the index table(s).

My understanding is that, since i have run the stats on data tables, oracle will have upto date info on the data tables and not on the index tables. When i run the SQL which uses indexes, it will maka difference to the performance. Could you please let me know.

Many Thanks,

If you analyze the table, the indexes are also analyzed.

You can demonstrate this for yourself by looking at user_tables and user_indexes. Find a table that has indexes. Analyze the table. Now go to user_indexes and look at the last_analyzed column. You should see that the indexes for the table you just analyzed have also been analyzed.
