Is the 2006 version of the Compta A+ Certification test out at testing centers yet or can you still opt to take the old version?

I have visited CramSession to find any material to the new version and they are not out yet that I could tell. Maybe someone can give me a link...

Does the group have any opinions over which one to take? Do I rush in and take the old test or wait for the new 2006 test to be released? Passing the 2006 version would give more credibility to a person's skills in today's IT world. I was looking for a discussion...

A+ is A+. It's an entry-level cert. so credibility ain't that big of an issue. Price will go up on the new exams. the older exam is a general exam. the new exams will try and specialize you in an effort to get you to take even more A+ exams. (an obvious ploy to get you to spend more money).

A+,N+,S+,L+,I+,HTI+,e-Biz+,Security+,CETma,CSS,CFOS/T,CCNT,CCTT,ACSP,ISA CCST3

that's an interesting method they picked to update A+

Got mixed feelings on this - on one hand I agree it's an obvious ploy to spend more money, and with all the other certs available out there - why bother.

On the other hand, they moved A+ Hardware & Software into one test, and made the second test be something else - to focus on bench testing, email tech support, etc.

Intruiging - still two tests, but it may have the ability to give a more rounded view for if they go onto MCSE or stay within their environment.
