I have successfully installed poptop on my linux box at home. I can successfully connect to the vpn and map network drives, etc. Of course, running vpn across 2 crippled cable lines (40KB max TX on both lines) makes for rather slow vpn. I then noticed that there is 0% compression. I checked the messages log and see this for one of the transactions:
Jan 11 17:01:40 localhost pppd[13754]: Plugin /usr/lib/pptpd/pptpd-logwtmp.so loaded.
Jan 11 17:01:40 localhost pppd[13754]: pppd 2.4.3 started by root, uid 0

Jan 11 17:19:07 localhost pppd[13754]: Modem hangup
Jan 11 17:19:07 localhost pppd[13754]: Connection terminated.
Jan 11 17:19:07 localhost pppd[13754]: Exit.
It says 128-bit stateless compression is enabled yet there is a 0% compression on the line.
I am running poptop on the latest release of Ubuntu and am connecting in with a Windows XP Pro machine using all the default settings.
How can I get the compression working at a reasonable level?
Thanks in advance for any help.
