compressing video camera video files into wmf and quicktime?

Say im recording videos of athletes getting their chance to accelerate, and I want to compress them into seperate wmf and quicktime files (basically one of each.) What program would be the most equipped to handle such a task?

How are you capturing it?? Digital or analog

Windows XP's own Movie Maker 2 can do the WMV files (if you meant WMV instead of WMF).

I believe its digital. basically im supposed to take the video files, compress them and then ship em on up to the server.

any other info would be highly appreciated.

Can you get a copy of Adobe Premiere? It can do both formats and others. Are you using a firewire card to transfer the video? A lot of firewire cards come with software that will do this sort of thing.
