I am starting to run short on available space on my RAID 5 array. I do have the ability to add additional drives but I was curious about what happens when drives are compressed. Does anyone have any advice or concerns with compressing drives to save space??

Thanks

I have been working on a Windows 2000 Active Directory domain for a while and we decided the best way to reserve space was to compress certain folders. We compressed the folders that contained the user files for storage as well as other unimportant information. I would not recommend compressing a system or boot partition as well as any applications that have been installed. hope this helps.

ohh also this was on a raid 5 array..
