Hello
I have seen a normal CD-R (content 700Mb) .This CD is Bootable with Win2000 pro, Win2000serv & WinAdvServ . When I checked the CD Properties the data size is shown as 486MB .But I was totally surprised when I explored the CD and checked the data size by Select All and Properties - it is shown as 1.5GB !! I am sure that it is not a DVD.

I know that we can write data to a CD like this (one expert has told me ) and also make it bootable at the same time .Has anybody done this kind of writing ?Please inform me the procedure .

Appreciate your reply.
Thanks

With just about any burning program (you need a CD burner, not a CD player), there should be a selection to "make a bootable disk". As for the "compressed" file, your computer may be reading the size when installed.

Imaging software such as Norton Ghost compresses data like you've described. Before moving to CD burning, I could back up 3GB onto 3 CD's using the high compression method in Ghost.

However, you should recognize that compression causes slower access. Also with top-notch DVD burners as cheap as $60 OEM, there's hardly reason to worry about how much you can fit onto a CD anymore.
