I've had to remove a couple of files from an old SCO openserver.

The only way I could to this was to use compress and then put them on floppy.

The problem i'm having now is that I can find a linux utility to de-compress these files so I can read them.

Does anyone know of a program I can use on Linux?

Thanks

Mark

an old unix box (sco, whatever), try 'decompress' if you used 'compress', or 'unzip' if you 'zip'd.

if it's a tar (.tar), then 'tar -xf <file>'.

gzip'd (.gz), 'gunzip <file>'.

gzip'd tarball (.tar.gz), 'tar -zxf <file>'

dunno the file type? 'file <filename>' will tell you something.
