Hi All,

New to solaris.

What is the best way to compress a ASCII file in solaris. The size is about 50GB.

Would a simple bzip2 filename suffice?

TIA

Depends what you mean by 'best'. bzip2 will probably give you the best compression, but won't be quick. gzip -1 won't compress as much, but will be much quicker.
