Dear All,

Has anyone else had problems making coumpound paths in InDesign 2.0.2 (PC)? When trying to make a compound path from more than two elements, all of which have been drawn in InDesign, I get random results. Sometimes it works, sometimes it will take three elements, sometimes four. Is this a known problem?

Thank you

Matt

Mattblack, if you're dealing with multiple paths, especially if you're making them compound and then releasing them, this can be an expected result.

It's easy to adjust the paths to get what you want, however. If you've created a compound path, and, for example, not all the paths are interacting as you want/expect, select the compound path, then select at least one point on the section/shape that isn't behaving as desired. Then go to the object menu and choose the Reverse Path command. That should invert whatever behavior you're seeing.

Worked first time, thank you. Never had such problems in Illustrator, but never mind.

There are some subtle differences between ID and Illustrator that may or may not disappear over time. Glad it worked for you.

And it takes quite a while to figure those differences out ^^
