Hello all, I am looking for a comparable option like the one found in Freehand or InDesign. The specific command is the paste into feature. I could go back and forth between InDesign and Illustrator but I shouldn't have to.

The Compound Path/Clipping Mask features always give the wrong order that I am striving for. For example I am doing a logo where I am trying to paste a pattern into a box so that there is not any excess outside of the box.

Any help is good help.
Thanks in advance.

hello,

i think it's inpossible to do whith illustrator. You can't include it like indesign.

p.s.:
i'm a beginner, maybe it can, but i think not

Hi gestalted.

In Illy forget about Paste into (theres no such thing) and it has nothing to do with Compound Paths. It is although, very easy to do.

Simply draw the shape you want for your clipping mask ABOVE your logo (it must be above the logo in the stacking order of objects). The select all the logo and new shape and go to Object>Clipping Mask>Make.
