I have 2 compund metrics which use columns from the same table in the report, when I run report, I could see data in all metrics except the 2 compound metrics, but if I run the Microstrategy SQL in database, I get values for these compound metrics, Can anyone help me with this,
Thanks in advance.

Hi mstms,

It might be due to the outerjoin issue. Just check
whether it is working well by enabling the
outerjoin for both the metrics which does not return the
data. You can enable that option either from the Report
or from the metric editor.

thanks
teccum.

Hi teccum,
Thanks for your reply, but i checked all the joins for all metrics and set it as outer, but the same problem occured, after that i set the dynamic aggregation in the metric editor to sum in both the compound metrics and it is working fine, but i couldnt understand what difference it makes in the metric calculation, Do you have any idea about this, Thanks for your reply once again

Hi mstms,

Good to know that you have resolved your issue.

The calculation of your compound metric depends on the
formula you used in the simple metric of your compound
metric.

Usually you need alter these settings based on the metric
you use. But for a simple metric where you use a basic
function this should not matter unless you need to
display a different data based on your customized
requirement.

Also, see whether you have checked the 'Allow Smart
Metric' check box under the Subtotals / Aggregations
Tab. This might also be an issue sometimes. You can run
the report by checking this and then un-checking this
to find any difference.

Thanks
teccum.

Hi teccum,
Thanks for your prompt reply,
what you suggested worked good,I removed the 'sum' set in the subtotals/aggregation and checked the 'allow smart metric'and now the metrics are giving right values.Do you have any idea what the 'sum' option in the subtotals/aggregation does since this also gives the correct values.
Thanks,
mstms.
