I have a problem that I need solved and I really hope that you all can help me. I designed a database for a company to use to do marketing analysis reports.
Some of the reports that they wanted have to look a certain way. For instance, with database you have a couple headings but the data mainly flows down. They want it to flow across. So I set it up to export the data and generate a pivot table in Excel to rearrange the data.
It worked great, but now they want to create a more complex report and I can't figure out how to get the pivot table to do it.
What I am exporting is transaction records (invoice number, date, product, quantity, price, etc.). When I open this in Excel it flows down as said. I need to generate a pivot table whereby I get have top headings going across (customer, Item, Year, January, February, Mar, Apr, May...you get the idea). Then under each month you have two column sub-headings - Quantity and Cost.
So data wise you have the customer name, then in the next column you have the product, then in the next column you have the year, and then going across under each month you have the quantity and the cost.
Can anyone guide me as to how to do this? I really need to get this done. Thanks in advance and awaiting your replies.
