Completely Upgrading Hardware 2

Is it possible to take an existing exchange structure and import it onto a totally new machine? We want to put our email server into a new and faster machine. I would hope that MS might allow for this kind of transition.

Otherwise I have to build up a server with litterally the exact properties of the old server and using a backup program, restore from tape the exchange server data.

It would be nice to just import the information store onto a new server.
