I only have experience with ASA and Definity systems. We have installed a Merlin Legend system in one of our offices and I now have WinSMP access.

I need a document that explains all of the commands for WinSMP.

I haven't had much luck finding anything.

Two things I'm trying to do with one extension.

First, the extension doesn't have voicemail (it's a conference room phone) so the Auto-Attendant doesn't recognize the extension and won't transfer it.

Second, the extension needs to ring back to the Auto-Attendant if it's not answered.

So, any help with finding a document that explains all of the commands for WinSMP and how to program this extension would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

WinSPM does not program the voicemail system. To do that you need to dial in to the system administrator's mailbox. You could make the conference room extension a "transfer only" extension in the voicemail system - that would allow someone to dial the conference room phone from the autoattendant (if they knew the extension#)through "direct extension transfer". I guess you could also add it to the vm directory - so people could finfd the extension# if they did not know it. I am not sure why you would want to give the conference room phone a voice mail box - but I guess you could. Again, that needs to be done through programming of the voice mail. What type of voicemail module is it? Legend 007MLM? Magix Messaging? - the instructions are somewhat different. By the way all of the manuals (in PDF format) are available for download from the avaya.ocm websire under support, all system documents, then scroll to your system/voice mail, etc.

Thanks for your quick response. I know how to access the voicemail system. I guess I didn't explain things completely enough.

How in the voicemail can I get the Auto-Attendant to transfer to the extension without giving it a mailbox?

Second, how can I get the extension to go back to the main Auto-Attendant if no one answers the call. (I assumed this part was controlled by the phone system, primary coverage?)

I already have the leg3prgs.pdf from Avaya and didn't realize it was the document I needed for the WinSMP. Beginning to realize that this program is just an emulation of the MLX-20L that is used to program the system.

So, with this additional information, any thoughts?

Still need to know the type of messaging system you have - the instructions differ - for setting up a "transfer only" voice mail box. As for system programming - make sure that the conference room extension is in the Cover Group for voice mail coverage (usually group 30 - but it may not be. That way, if the phone rings and no one answers - it would have aa coverage or if you gave it a mailbox - it would go there.

Sorry, it's a 007MLM.

As for programming, I was hoping to get the quick and dirty explaination as to how to make sure that the ext. is in a cover group and if not how to change it.

Thanks.

OK: One problem with the Merlin Mail 007 - is that a "transfer only" (mail box type 20) extension is "unsupervised" - meaning - if a call is transferred to the conference room and noone has a cover button for that phone - it will just ring until someone hange up - so if you want calls to the conference room to be covered - maybe put a cover button on the operator's phone for that extension with a 4 ring delay or so. So, assuming you want to set up a "transfer only" extension for the conference room, log into the admin mailbox, press 9, press the choice for mailbox admin, choose create a mailbox, and put in the conf rm ext and choose type 20. If you want a directory listing (4-digits) - you need to key-in the sequence 23-63-62-33 - which spells out CONF. Then record the name as "conference room" and exit out.

At the 20L, press system programming, start, extensions, more, cover groups, 30, inspect - and see if the conf rm extension is listed along with the other extensions with vm coverage. If not, back up a step, and enter the conf rm extension, press inspect to make sure it is listed. If that is not your voicemail cover group - then you really need to do a "print all" from WinSPM to find out what group it is - or check them all (1 thru 30).

I take back part of what I said - you don't need a cover button for the conference room phone - the default is transfer to the operator - even for unsupervised transfers.
