Windows NT 4 workstation has become very problematic for me, so I'd like to _completely_ remove any existence of it from my hard drive and replace it with another OS (likely win98 since I already have a license for it). I've tried installing win98 over top of winnt, but it won't let me do it since its not an "upgrade" disk. How do I _completely_ remove WinNT from my machine? I want to be as clean as possible. Much obliged.

Do the following to get rid (I'm assuming you use NTFS):

1. Use a Windows 98 boot disk
2. Select No CDROM support
3. Once you're at the DOS prompt, type fdisk
4. Press yes to the two options (just about large disk support).
5. Select 3 (delete partition)
6. Select 4 (delete non-dos partition)
7. Select 1 (create partition)
8. Use all available space

If you have multiple partitions, you may need to delete them as well.
If your file system is FAT, on step 6 select delete primary partition instead.

After the reboot, use a boot disk as normal and install Windows 98 or whatever...

NOTE : When you delete the partition, you lose ALL information. Backup anything you want first

Regards
