hey,
what compilers/linkers/assemblers did microsoft use to compile winxp, 2000 etc...? and about how long would it have taken to compile the final builds(minutes)?

From what I understand, it was written in Visual C/C++ 6.0. Most of it is in ordinary C, although large parts are in C++ (graphics subsystem, mostly). For Windows 2000, I heard build times of 18 hours, even spreading the compile load amongst several machines (where possible). Could be wrong -- this is just something I've heard.
