Compiling MDE locks system

I'm trying to compile a database I created to an MDE file and every time I do so Access freezes and I have to force it closed. I've tried a tip I found in another thread of debugging the VB but that doesn't seem to help.

Any clues as to what might be going on? The DB isn't huge, only around 2MB.

Does the database compiles properly ?
No missing reference ?
Is the data format version the same as the access version ?
