Compiling channel exits on AS400

Hi

Has anyone compiled a channel exit on the AS400? I have one written in C and I need to compile it, the documentation is a little woolly as to how this is done.

Hi Jim,

You just need to compile it as per the instructions in the Application Programming Guide but take into account the restrictions and settings given in the Intercommunication Guide. Do you have any specific problems?

I have been having problems compiling a C exit which is in use on several boxes other than the AS/400. It appears that I require an 'int main' entry point in the AS/400 version which is not present in the current version. This caused me grief for a while as I am not a C programmer.

The manual does not give an example of the entry point code for the AS/400 even though it gives some for the other platforms.

So, yesterday, I have managed to modify the code and compile it and link it according to the instructions you mentioned.

And it works!!! So I am a happy coder again - until next time.
