Remember those good-old-days? Just before each new section you coded a "/" in column 7 to make sure you got a large pile of 11" zebra paper on you desk and every section started at a new page.and after some time you had little yellow papers popping out....

Who prints his/hers compilerlisting nowadays? Where is that beatifull 11" paper.

Today I code (acu)cobol on a PC and the compiler listing is a PC file, browed with notepad or a simular program...
I still code that "/" for each new section. The compiler still starts a new 'page', but when I hit "PageDown" notepad does not understand and does not align my ocompiler output.

I wonder, is there a smart program out there capable of browsing my compiler output and interpreting "PageDown" asif I was turning a page on that old pile of 11" paper?

Browse your listings with MS Word. CTRL-PageDown will take you to the top of the next page.

I faced similar "usability" issues with my mainframe listings some time ago (that old 24x80 mainframe screen isn't great for viewing listings). I created a macro in MSWord and assigned it to a button on my toolbar. Click the macro and it gives me a list of all the SYSOUTs on the mainframe. I click the one I want. The Macro uses FTP to download it to the PC where Word opens it and sets up the pagination and page orientation. At that point, I can browse the listing, search it, or print it or selected portions of it. Made my life much easier, especially if I'm working remotely from any mainframe printer.

Regards.

Perhaps you can use an Acrobat printer to print it to...

Many SVGA cards support a 132x60 text mode. Not many applications support it. LIST by Vernon D. Buerg is one that does. It is available as shareware.

There is a software that its main task to handle printing tasks, including from dos command line, or from programs.

It can also, to display/zoom pages by PgUp/Dn, every page that has page eject.
