Obtaining name list of C library
./compile-src: nm: not found
Couldn't get the namelist of C library. Exiting...

I am attempting to complie xinetd on solaris 8, however I
am running into a problem

Can some one expand on the error message I am getting ?

Danny,

Looks like the install routine (make, I guess) can't find the nm command.

Try: find / -name nm -print

to see if it is on your system, if it is - put its directory in your PATH and try again. Mike

I had to compile GNU gcc

Apperently it had something to do with the default "c" compiler being buggy or something. I will have to check my notes on monday. After I compiled GNU gcc xinetd compiled correctly.

So to make a long story short xinetd works now, however my new problem is now tcp-wrappers.
